ICC Tags
Need help identifying, tracking, and pricing your product? ICC Tags are removable labels we can include with each order. You will receive one ICC Tag (with printed product information) per item shipped. The fee for this service is $0.03 per label.

JIT Tags
If you wish to save time applying labels to your product, you can have JIT Tags affixed to your product prior to shipment from our warehouse. To subscribe to this service you must be enrolled on our FirstPass plan. The fee for this service is $199 per year (billed monthly).

Backorders
Backorders that total more than $25 net are shipped on Fridays. Backorders totaling less than $25 net will be shipped with your next regular order. Backorders not shipped within 90 days are cancelled.


What is your return policy?

  1. Product must be in salable condition.
  2. Product must be currently for sale by STL.
  3. All items must be free of stickers, including STL Distribution stickers or there will be a 10% restocking fee. Please be sure that all sticker residues are cleaned from the product.
  4. Product must be purchased from STL within the last year. (seasonal items must be returned 90 days from the holiday)
  5. Return shipments exceeding $1000.00 at retail value must be accompanied by an STL Return Authorization.
  6. Shipments requiring an STL Return Authorization must have the RA number clearly shown on the outside of every carton.
  7. All cartons in a return shipment must be labeled: #1 of ___, #2 of___, etc.
  8. No return shipment carton may exceed 50# in weight.
  9. All return shipments must be addressed to:

  10. Any shipment not meeting all of the above requirements becomes the property of STL Distribution, and may be disposed of or returned to the shipper freight collect, without credit being issued.
  11. STL will only issue credits to your account for all returns to be used towards balances on past and future purchases. No checks will be cut for returns.
Internet Fulfillment Returns:
STL Distribution will be implementing a $6.00 fee to RETURNED drop-ship packages (due to incorrect address, addressee moving, or packages that are undeliverable.) This fee will offset penalties the US Postal service is charging STL on returned packages. The policy takes effect 8/1/2009 and the charge will go directly to the account of the customer who placed the drop-ship order.

What is STL distribution's policy on shipping?

Any electronic orders of 15 shippable units or more qualify for paid free freight via UPS Ground or other STL selected carrier. Web orders resulting in shipments less than 15 units from the cascading warehouse are charged the published rates. Web-site orders resulting in shipments exceeding 15 units from either warehouse qualify for free freight.

First Pass accounts will receive Free Freight on orders called or placed electronically of 15 units or more.

(Freight charges will appear on the invoice but may be deducted from payment if paid within terms)

What is DC Cascading and how do I sign up?

  1. For customers that opt for DC Cascading, all orders will be filled as completely as possible from their primary warehouse. Once the initial portion has been filled, the order will cascade to the other warehouse for maximum completion.
  2. Once an order has been processed through both warehouses, customers accepting backorders will have any unfilled items backordered from their primary warehouse. Customers not backordering will have any unfilled items cancelled.
  3. EDI customers will receive a confirmation indicating their purchase order number as well as the products shipping from both warehouses.
  4. As a further enhancement, any DC Cascading order of 30 items or more (shipped and back-ordered) will receive Payment Free Freight on both primary and secondary orders. Orders of 15 to 29 items (shipped and backordered) will receive Payment Free Freight (See #1 above) on the primary warehouse order and a flat fee of $4.00 from the cascaded warehouse. Orders of fewer than 15 items (shipped and backordered) will be charged actual freight from both warehouses. Items on back-order from previous orders that have arrived and are combined with the current order do not count toward the Payment Free Freight requirements.

Note: Customers who are signed up to DC cascading and use the drop-ship function on the STL website should not change the ‘Ship order from’ field, it is not necessary to manually select a warehouse location. If the product is out of stock at the location nearest your customer the system will automatically cascade to the alternate warehouse and ship from there provided sufficient stock is available.


Are there any other fees or costs?

Yes, due to dramatic fluctuations in oil prices over the past months, all shipments will have a non-deductible $1.00 fuel surcharge on the invoice. Although STL Distribution has made every effort to absorb these fluctuations in fuel prices, we are now required to reflect these unavoidable price fluctuations in our pricing to maintain our high service levels to our customers.

Effective June 1, 2009 STL will charge a small order fee of $4.50 on manually entered [faxed, phoned, or mailed] orders of less than 15 units, either shipped or backordered. This fee does not apply to orders over $200.00, EDI, or web generated orders.

The following types of orders are exempt from the small order fee and will not be charged:
  • Drop shipments
  • Cascaded orders
  • Weekly backorder fulfillments
    • Accounts that accept backorders will not be charged if an order of 15 or more units cannot be filled in one shipment.
    • Accounts that do not accept backorders will be charged if they order 15 units and only 14 ship out.
STL is adding this fee to encourage stores to use EDI or our newly enhanced website for orders, instead of more costly manual order entry.

Searching

Some tips on using the search function on STL-Distribution.com.
  • If you are having trouble finding a title you are looking for, try searching for keywords in the title.
  • Authors may not be listed with first name. If you cannot find an author, try searching only for the authors last name.
  • You can search for partial ISBNs or UPCs if you do not know the entire ISBN or UPC
My Lists

If you find yourself ordering the same titles on multiple orders then try the My Lists feature on the website. This feature allows you to store products in a location outside of your shopping cart. With each list, you can easily add/remove products and then add those products from your lists to your cart. To access your lists, just click on the My Lists tab at the top of each page.

From "My Lists" you can add any or all titles contained in that particular list to your order. You can also create multiple lists, for example: Bible List, Music List, Gift List, Children’s List, etc.

You can add titles to your lists at anytime. If you are on a product detail page, determine which list you want to add the product to and click on the "add to list" button. You can create new lists from product pages as well by clicking on the "create new list" link.

Lists can be useful if you find yourself ordering the same products, have multiple users on the web-site responsible for different product groups or if you just want to save a product or group of products to come back to and order later without adding it to your cart.

Saving Your Shopping Cart

From within your shopping cart you have the ability to save your shopping cart to a list (see above). Below are a few examples of why you might want to do this:
  • If you often have customer who come in and want their order drop-shipped - this will allow you to save the order you've been building for your stop in order to quickly place the drop-ship order for the customer.
  • If you wanted to save the items in your cart to order again in the future - you will be able to quickly create a list where you can come back to anytime and add to your shopping cart again.
Problems with an order or ordering system

Troubleshooting SERVANT/Bookstore Manager



Setting up FTP

Go to IVVM. Pull up Appalachian. Go to Electronic Variables.
  1. Check the box "Use FTP"
  2. For "Ordering Address", type: cross.appalink.com
  3. For "Mode", type: APP
  4. You must get your "login-string" and "password-string" from STL Distribution. These fields are CASE SENSITIVE!!
  5. For "Get Delay" type: 60
  6. For "Protocol", select: Xmodem-CRC



Sending a PO via FTP

You will create the PO through IVO and prepare the PO as you would using IVOP.
  1. To send, go to COMM -> FTP Transactions
  2. All of the BISAC/X12 PO's that are not acknowledged will be in the left column. They are listed as: PO# VENDOR# ORDERSTATUS
  3. The Order Status will be one of the following: "N" = Not yet ordered, "O" = Ordered, but not acknowledged, or "A" = Ordered and acknowledged
  4. Highlight each PO that you want to add and click "Add". You can add as many PO's as you would like (only 1 per vendor, because only 1 PO per vendor can be prepared at any time). All PO's will be added to the bottom right box labeled "Send to Other"
  5. Once you are ready to send the PO(s), Click
  6. You will see it Processing Order(s)
  7. You will see it requesting Ack(s).
  8. BSMGR will bring up a window showing the PO#, Order Status, and Ack Status. It is possible that an acknowledgement will be ready by the time you place the order. However, because of a short delay in file transfers, you may have to check back after several minutes for the acknowledgement.
  9. Once you click "Close", you will be prompted to "Process Ack(s) Now". If you had a PO that had an "Ack Status" of "Succeeded", click "Yes", otherwise click "No"

Requesting Acknowledgements

Requesting a Specific PO Acknowledgement
  1. Highlight the PO that was successfully ordered (O) and make sure the radio button is on "Get Selected Acknowledgement" and click
  2. You will see a "Requesting Ack(s)" window.
  3. It will bring the same window you saw earlier showing PO#, Order Status, and Ack Status. The Ack Status should be "Succeeded". Click "Close" and choose "Yes" to "Would you like to process acknowledgements"
Requesting All Acknowledgements
  1. Make sure the radio button is on "Get All Acknowledgements" and click . This will attempt to get acknowledgements for all PO's in the left column with an order status of "O"
  2. It will bring the same window you saw earlier showing PO#, Order Status, and Ack Status. The Ack Status should be "Succeeded". Click "Close" and choose "Yes" to "Would you like to process acknowledgements". This will take you to IVIC where you can process the acknowledgements. Enter vendor number and choose "Confirmation" and click "OK"
